It is possible and educational to squeeze a bit of oil from the peel of an orange that may otherwise be thrown away. This would be equivelant to the press method of extraction.

The steam extraction method can be roughly replicated by boiling peels in water in a pot with lid. The oil will then form and seperate from the water.

Since the vast majority of this fine natural citrus oil is a by-product of the favorite squeezed orange juice, it may be easier to simply purchase a bulk bottle online. We are starting to see self juicing machines in grocery stores in the Bay area of Northern California- perhaps you could ask the management for the large amount of discarded peels that are most likely thrown away.

A recent promising study demonstrated that orange oil inhibits the growth of E.coli 0157 on beef at refrigeration temperatures. The U.S. study Inhibition of Beef Isolates of E. coli O157:H7 by Orange Oil at Various Temperatures was published in the Journal of Food Science. The team from CSU and the University of Arkansas used a 1% solution at various temperatures of the essential oil, a cold-pressed terpenless Valencia orange oil against three strains of E.Coli. The results were that all strains were inhibited which means that the natural food additive could be used to prevent the bacteria from entering the food chain.

We must admit even we were a little shocked to learn that there have been technological advances which allow orange oil to be used in the production of an automotive street tire. Described as an every day or touring tire, manufacturer Yokohama has created an eco-friendly partial replacement for the amount of petroleum which is usually used during the production process. A performance improvement is another benefit which is explained as an increase in grip which allows a reduction in rolling resistance.

Improved fuel efficiency is presented as yet another bonus in an age of ever increasing gas prices at the pump.

By infusing Orange Oil, we improve the molecular bond between natural and synthetic rubber. The result? Optimized tread life, all season performance and fuel efficiency

The aroma of Orange Oil is sweet, pungent and easily recognized as a citrus scent. It is natures unmistakable version of a pleasant smelling liquid pressed out of an edible fruit. Many air fresheners attempt to replicate this pleasant aroma and unfortunately often times contain other ingredients.

Pro Tips for aromatic excellence:
Mist- spray to freshen any room in your home or office.
Blend- Mixing Orange Oil with one or more other aromatic oils is a fun way to create a unique scent. Grape seed and Jojoba Oils are often blended to compliment the citrus essence.
Adding Olive or Sweet Almond Oil is great for a massage or bath oil.
